GOLDEN JUBILEE 2007 |
2007 is the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Edgecumbe Choir.
Three ways in which the Choir intends to celebrate the occasion are:
A History of the Edgecumbe Choir Work is already under way on compiling the material for a history of the Edgecumbe Choir to be published in 2007. If you have any material, for instance photographs, documents or anecdotes about the Choir, please contact the Choir Historian at the addresses shown on the Home Page.
The Commissioning of a Choral Work The Choir Committee has decided that a suitable way to celebrate the Choir’s Golden Jubilee is to commission a choral work to be performed by the Edgecumbe Choir. To allow the widest possible participation, this commission will probably take the form of a competition. Following the 2005 AGM the new Committee will appoint a group to work out the criteria and conditions of entry, approach external adjudicators and seek sufficient funding to provide an attractive prize or prizes. Once the criteria and conditions of entry have been decided they will be posted on this site, as well as circulated widely within New Zealand.
Social Functions Past members and associates of the Edgecumbe Choir who have lost contact with the Choir are invited to register their interest in attending any social functions that may take place to celebrate the Golden Jubilee. They should contact the Choir Secretary through the addresses given on the Home Page.
